Research

Emily’s research has focused on the music of Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho, and she has presented it at SUNY Buffalo and the CUNY Graduate Center. Emily is interested in exploring the role of timbre in musical meaning, expression, and structure and in developing a vocabulary to do so.
